My parents bathroom has a motion sensor bidet/toilet. The lido opens and closes on its own. And does automatic flushing. Mckayla doesn’t understand the motion sensor function and thinks it’s a voice commanded function. Yesterday, I heard her voice in the hallway. She kept saying, “open, open, open! I told you to open”. I didn’t know what was going on and went in to check on her. She was standing in front of the toilet and pointing at it. Since the lid didn’t cooperate with her voice command, she proceeded to open it herself and said “forget it, I will open it myself!”

Taiwan Day 13

We have studio picture appointment today. I got up early myself to get ready. While I was in shower, Ted snuck out to pick up breakfast. I left shortly after to get my hair done. When I came back an hour later, Marcus was already up and so was LJ. I went to get Mckayla right after. They ate breakfast while I finished getting ready. We got to the studio just as scheduled. We started with family picture first. Both kids did well during the shoot. The photographer and his assistants irked hard for their money. They entertained the kids to get them smile and laugh. It’s funny watching how Marcus behaves with nd without Mckayla. They did some pictures alone. Marcus was quite reserved and shy on his own. But Mckayla is around, he giggles and laughs out loud. A completely different kid! Kids snacked during the photo shoots and shared a shaved ice in the car on the way home. They were tired and ready for nap when we got home. Ted slept with them while I did some packing. They woke as Margaret, Leong, and LJ came home. I kicked the kids next door to hang out with uncle Jeff and great aunt Pony Sony could continue with packing. Marcus came back later and showed me his nails. He joined Mckayla and got his nails painted. LJ was up by then, so Ted and took all three kids upstairs to play bubbles. They had lots of fun. Mckayla and Marcus were chasing each other for the bubble gun while LJ ran after them for the bubbles. We came down later and got the kids cleaned up to head out to dinner. Andre was treating all of us at a Taiwanese restaurant on the 85th floor of Taipei 101. We had to take three different elevators to get to our destination. The food was delicious and Marcus ate well as usual. Mckayla had a difficult time until she was given her last warning and to finish her food facing the wall. On our way back, Marcus decided that he wanted to ride with Margaret and took off with them. When we got home, kids hung out together for a while before they were all showered and tugged in for their last night of this Taiwan trip.

Taiwan Day 12

Marcus woke up right before eight this morning. He told me he didn’t sleep well. I asked him what happened. He responded, “You didn’t share the blanket”. I left him in bed with iPad so I could shower. I heard Ted’s voice and knew he had arrived. Ted told me that Marcus was excited to see him, but not enough to stop playing with iPad. Mckayla came over later and gave Ted a big hug. She was even more happy when she found out that Ted brought her KiKi. We took turns eating breakfast and hung out at home. Andre came over to give Marcus a RC car that he bought in Singapore. Marcus was very excited but ended up bumping his head on the table corner. My parents have granite counters for coffee table, so Marcus got a pretty bad owie. He was very upset but refused to ice it. Luckily, the owie missed his eye just by half an inch. The preparation for the big day began right after lunch when the makeup and hair ladies arrived. We took turns getting our makeup and hair done between lunch and getting the kids down for their nap. Mckayla was so happy to get all dolled up for the wedding. While the lady was applying lip gloss or her and asked her to keep her lips open, she forgot to swallow and started drooling. She couldn’t stop looking at herself in the mirror afterwards. Marcus ran to me asking if he’s handsome after getting dressed and hair styled with gel. We headed out right after I finished. And began taking lots of pictures with family. Kids were kept busy with snacks during cocktail hours. Then, finally it was the reception. The flower girls and ring bearers all did great walking down the aisle. Mckayla was the oldest girl and LJ was the youngest boy. They all walked without much assistance. After a short ceremony, food was served. Marcus ate through half of the six courses before he declared that he was full. Mckayla had fun dancing with Jared and the singer of the live band. The reception ended pretty late and we stayed til the end to congrat and say goodbye to the bride and groom. With all my cousins help, we were loaded into the taxi and headed home. The rest of them, without kids and obligation, we’re going to the after party at another location. LJ had fallen asleep by then but Mckayla and Marcus were still wide awake. I quickly hopped in the shower myself first before helping the kids. Mckayla was in bed with great aunt Pony since Jackie wasn’t home yet. Marcus was not happy when Ted told him that they would go to sleep together while I cleaned up and packed up for tomorrow.

Demoted

Poor Jackie has been demoted by Mckayla since great aunt’s arrival. On our first day here, she cried when Jackie was leaving for work. But today, no one noticed Jackie had gone to work until she called us. Jackie said all the kids were too busy playing when she left for work.

Taiwan Day 11

Marcus woke up this morning on the wrong side of bed. He was whiny and clingy until grandma fed him breakfast. It was almost nine in the mourning by then and we didn’t hear a word from Mckayla. I wasn’t surprised since great aunt Pony was also next door. Later, she came over with great aunt Pony to eat breakfast. She was being a big baby, sitting on great aunt’s laps. After breakfast, Justine came by with Jared and Jillian to play. Mckayla, Jared, and Marcus were having a great time together. They got a bit too hyper, so we decided to take them out for a walk and pick up a few things. Marcus was strapped in the stroller while Mckayla and Jared walked. We went to the store to pick up a few things for LJ, then to tea shop and snack store. We came home for lunch afterwards. They played with great uncle and great grandma for a bit before going down for their naps. Both of them were exhausted and slept for almost two hours. I wasn’t sure who woke up first, but I heard giggling from the room and went in to check. They were both up and playing together. We hung out at home the rest of the afternoon. Kids were very happy to see uncle Jeff, especially that he showered them with more gifts. Then, uncle Will came by. Marcus wasn’t quite familiar with him but Mckayla was all excited. They played together until it was time to head out for dinner. We had xiao long bao and potsticker again. Both kids ate well. My parents came after the wedding rehearsal to join us for dinner. We decided the kids should skip the rehearsal today since it wouldn’t help them tomorrow. After dinner, Mckayla, Marcus, and LJ did a little Mickey Mouse Hot Dog dance for us before they were all showered and in bed. Before going to bed, I talked to Mckayla about Ted’s arrival tomorrow morning and the exciting wedding in the afternoon. She even did a practice walk down the aisle with a smile for us.

Taiwan Day 10

Marcus slept well overnight. I didn’t hear a peep from him until eight thirty this morning. He woke up and told me he had to pee. We rushed to the bathroom just in time. Mckayla joined us shortly after. They ate their breakfast while LJ was dancing to Mickey Mouse Playhouse theme song in Chinese. After breakfast, kids started playing together. Mckayla was doing some worksheets while the other two was playing fetch. LJ was caged in the playpen. He threw the ball out and asked Marcus to fetch for him. Marcus happily brought back the ball to him each time. They chatted with Ted for a bit before we headed out. We went back to the first art workshop we went last week. Marcus wasn’t cooperative. He did half of his work and declared he was tired. He climbed back in his stroller and pretend to sleep for a few seconds. I was able to coax him back slowly to finish his work. Mckayla did great with her work without much assistance.

Margaret, Leong, and LJ took off first to grab lunch on their own. We shopped for a bit and picked up a few more Chinese books before we met up with my mom for lunch. Neither kid was hungry as they had late breakfast plus snacks before the art workshop, after we finished eating, I picked up Marcus from the highchair. He laid on my shoulder and told me he was tired. Seeing what Marcus doing, Mckayla immediately started whining that she was sleepy too and needed to be held. After I rejected her and told her she had to walk, she started crying out loud and wouldn’t cooperate. I had to take get out again for another talk. We got home quickly and got them in bed for their nap. While they napped, I snuck out for a bit and ran into aunt Pony, Jenni, and Kris who just arrived. Shortly after we got home, kids all woke up. They were showered with another round of gifts from everyone.

Aunt Pony and I took Mckayla and Marcus out for a walk. Then, I fed kids’ their dinner first. Once they were done, I went out with Margaret and Jenni for a quick trip to the night market. Mckayla doesn’t care if I was missing but I wasn’t sure how Marcus would react. He did well while I was gone for almost two hours, hanging out with grandpa, grandma, great aunt, uncles Ajay and Kris. When we got back, Jackie had just came back with Marcus from an excursion to the pet shop to check out dogs. Both kids went to bathroom for number ones and twos while I was away. No accidents! We ate late dinner while the kids played around us. Both Mckayla and Marcus were having too much fun with everyone. It’s almost eleven, and Marcus is still struggling to fall asleep. Too much excitements today. And tomorrow is another round with Uncle Jeff’s arrival in the afternoon.

Potty training update

Marcus is doing very well with his number ones and twos. Even though I still put on pull ups for him when we go out, he’s been consistently telling me has to use the potty on his own. We had to run to the potty a few time when we’re out. And most of the time, his diaper stays dry through his naps. I think he’s ready to ditch the pull ups when we go out once we get home. Looking forward to say good bye to the diaper bag soon!

Marcus is picking up on Mckayla’s diplomatic skills. Before bedtime today, I asked Marcus to say goodnight to everyone. Then, I asked Marcus who he loves the most. He responded, “mommy, jiejie, auntie Jackie, grandma, and grandpa”. He named everyone who was present.

Taiwan Day 9

I got waken up by Marcus this morning complaining that he couldn’t sleep because LJ was crying. I took him outside to play with LJ. He enjoyed an entire piece of bread along with milk for breakfast. I hopped in the shower after he finished breakfast and snacked on wax apple. Mckayla cane back shortly after eight. She happily ate the same breakfast Marcus had. They were playing along nicely until Marcus got too excited and bumped his head with Mckayla’s. They both started crying and screaming and waking up LJ who was trying to nap. They were disastrous after that and took me a while to calm them down. I took them out for a walk before meeting up with Margaret, Leong, and LJ for lunch. Mckayla was not behaving and had a melt down at the restaurant. I had to take her out for a talk before she calmed down and ate her lunch. We went to Justine’s place to visit after lunch. Kids got to play and I got to see DiDi. He’s MeiMei’s friend. They were from the same breeder. Marcus was excited to see DiDi until he started barking. Mckayla was happy to see him and commented that he looks like MeiMei. After a fun time of playing, it was time to say goodbye and get the kids home for a nap. Marcus had a hard time falling asleep and Mckayla was not helping. I had to have another talk with her before she finally slept. I had to wake up the kids after an hour and half of nap. We were heading to check out Andre and Grace’s new pad. After a short visit, we went to eat Japanese food for dinner. It was a fancy restaurant that took more than two hours for the meal. All three kids had to be entertained with phones and iPods after they finished their dinner. We had sesame ice cream for desserts but neither kid enjoyed it. After we got home (it was almost ten o’clock), all three kids were rushed to shower and bed. Another exciting day awaits them tomorrow. Great aunt Pony, Auntie Jenni, and Uncle Kris are flying in from the Philippines.

Taiwan Day 8

Marcus slept in this morning and woke me up at eight. I got him changed and breakfast ready for him. Mckayla came over as Marcus was ready to eat. They ate their breakfast while I showered. After I came out, Mckayla decided she wanted to try the rice ball that I was going to eat. After getting the kids ready, they resumed playing on their own before we headed out. Marcus had his appointment for haircut today with LJ and Jared.

LJ and Jared joined us after Marcus finished. While they got their hair cut, I took Mckayla and Marcus to do some finger painting. Here’s what they made today.

And the one Mckayla made yesterday with Jackie.

We went to eat lunch at a nearby restaurant that specializes in “honey toast”. Kids had their pasta first before they indulged in the yummy desserts.

We were picked up by the driver after lunch to get the kids home for nap. My aunt and uncle stopped by to see the kids. It took me a while to calm them down for a nap. They were too excited but also tired. Both napped for more than two hours before I woke them up. They’ve been going to bed two hours later than their normal bed time but still getting up at their usual morning routine. They are definitely not getting enough sleep at night, and catching up during nap time. After they woke up from their naps, I took them to the park for a walk. Marcus spent most of his time in the stroller to and from the park, but Mckayla walked the whole way. We got a bubble gun and they chased around bubbles until it started getting dark. On our home, we picked more bread for their breakfast tomorrow. After we got back, they hung out with LJ and great grandma until dinner. Marcus was very happy to see his uncles and aunties, especially uncle Ajay since he had classes over the weekend. We had dinner at home, then celebrated belated birthdays for Margaret and Grace.

Marcus immediately asked uncle Ajay to take him for a walk to see the fishes and dogs. All three kids wanted to go, so Jackie and Margaret went along to help out. I had a nice break to take shower and some peace and quiet while they were gone. Another great aunt came by to see the kids when they got back. We got all three kids showered in between and sent them to bed afterwards. While Mckayla was in shower, Marcus asked auntie Jackie to clip his nails. I was quite surprised since he usually doesnt like getting them done. It’s almost ten, and Marcus is still rolling around in bed and not asleep yet. Hopefully he will fall asleep soon so Jackie, Margaret, and I can enjoy the sangria that Jackie made soon!
