Yesterday afternoon, Mckayla was sent to her room with a bottle of milk and instructed to nap. Ted was busy with his ribs on the smoker while I was sorting through baby clothes in the guest room. For the first half an hour, she was pretty quiet and didn’t pay much attention to her. Then, I heard Ted’s voice telling her to go back to her room for the next hour. By then, it was almost four in the afternoon and she hasn’t napped yet. Ted came in the guest room and told me she’s probably not going to sleep again this afternoon (she also skipped her nap on Friday). But then, we didn’t hear from her for almost another hour. We thought she might hae fallen asleep and didn’t bother to check the monitor. Then, all the sudden I hear her foot steps down the hallway. I peeked my head out and saw Mckayla running towards me with a big mischievous smile on her face. She came in the room to say hi then ran away. Before she took off, I noticed her hair looked “wet”. So I told Ted to check on her, he said it’s probably from her sweat. Then, she came back to the guest room again to ask what I was doing. That’s when I noticed her face also looked “wet”. I told her to come over and give me a hug. Then, I realized her hair and face were not wet, they were shiny! I asked Mckayla what happened to her face. She said she was putting lotion and lipsticks on her face to look pretty. Ted ran to her room to check on the damage when he heard her reply. And there they were, the lotion bottle and opened Vaseline jar on the floor. After a closer examination, not only her face and hair were nicely moisturized, her clothes, hands, and feet were also covered with Vaseline. The damage was worse than her previous tempering with Vaseline. It was time to dump her in the tub to degrease. We shampooed her hair twice but was only able to get most of the Vaseline out. Even after her bath, she still looked well greased for the rest of the evening. And we had to put all her sheet, blanket, and stuff animals in the washer, too.
