Eating with Utensils

Mckayla started using ustensils awhile ago. But she wasn’t very good at it and usually resorted back to her fingers when she couldn’t get food in her mouth effectively and efficiently. These past few weeks she has been getting better with her eating tools. She’s able to get food in her mouth with spoon and [...]

Interactive Reading

We read to Mckayla every night before she heads to bed. She still loves her Dr. Seuss books and now we love reading to her even more. She’s starting to memorize some of the books and anticipates the next page before we even get there. And now when we read “Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can [...]

The Art of Sharing

We bumped into Sophia and Erin at the Farmer’s Market this morning. While I was buying strawberries, Mckayla and Erin did their sampling while they waited. Because Erin didn’t want to get her hands dirty, she let Sophia hold the strawberry while she takes bites from it. Mckayla, on the other hand, had her two [...]

Skinny Leg Jeans

Mckayla got a pair of skinny leg jeans from Auntie Justine for her birthday. The jeans were too long and we finally got to try them on last weekend. And they looked horrible on her. Skinny leg jeans are meant for skinny people with longs legs and that’s also true for toddlers. They didn’t look [...]

When I was heading out this morning, Mckayla gave me a hug to say good bye. I was ready to go and had my bags in my arm. As she was hugging me, she must have peeked in my lunch bag. She pointed at it and said “lan mei” (which is “blueberry” in Chinese, but [...]

Delayed BM (don’t read if you’re easily grossed out….because it’s related to BM)

Mckayla’s BM is very regulated. She goes once in the morning and once in the afternoon. On days with good appettite, she goes again right after dinner. This morning, she didn’t poop as usual. Her diaper was clean when she got up in the morning. We were hoping she would go after breakfast because we [...]

Shopping!

Ted and I took Mckayla to the mall yesterday afternoon. Ted wanted to pick up a Lakers’ jersey for the NBA finals (the price tag talked him out of it). We walked around the mall looking the sports stores. As we walked by Gap Kids, Mckayla did a double take and dragged me back into [...]

You? I?

Mckayla is a bit confused right now. She points at herself and says “Ni” when she saw me looking at pictures on the camera. She wants to see picture of herself. But “Ni” is “you” in Chinese. And when I try to correct her that it’s “Wo” (“I” in Chinese), she gave me a very [...]

Bilingual?

When something goes wrong, Mckayla says “uh oh” and “ai yo”. She calls Ted, “DaDa” and “BaBa”. And for dogs, Mckayla says “Puppy” and “GoGo”, but if it’s a small white dog, it’s “MeiMei”.
