We’re sick

Mckayla had runny nose on the plane on our way back from Taiwan. But she seemed to have gotten over it by Monday. But yesterday morning, Nanny noticed Mckayla’s foredhead was warm when she woke up. We checked her temperature, slight feverish at 100.9F. I gave her a dose Tylenol before I went to work. [...]

Jealousy

After dinner last night, Mckayla, Kai, and Kenji were having fun playing with their toys and sort of with each other. Jackie and I were taking turns lifting Kenji up in the air and that made made him laugh and squeal. Mckayla had no problem when I was playing with Kenji, she just looked at us and didn’t [...]

Mommy’s Fault

Last night, Mckayla woke up again shortly after we put her to bed and refused to go back to her own crib. She’s been waking up shortly after going to bed for the past three nights not sure if it’s because of jet lag, separation anxiety, teething, or we’re too loud (Deborah/Dan/Kai/Kenji are staying with [...]

The Bumpy Ride Home

We flew back from Taiwan last night. Our flight was on schedule but it was quite bumpy. When we woke up in the morning, it was nice and quiet. No more crazy wind and the rain even stopped. But by the afternoon, the rain picked up again. And it was pretty heavy by the time [...]

Typhoon Sinlaku

A very powerful typhoon is expected to hit Taiwan bringing heavy downpours (expected rain fall up to 50 inches) and strong winds (sustained winds near 125mph). Business and schools are closed today (Saturday 9/13). I’m sitting in the living room and can hear the gusting wind with windows closed. Some flights in and out of [...]

I’m coming with you…

Many family members come and go to visit my Grandpa during the day and they all love to play with Mckayla. She’s dutifully playing her social butterfly role and waves “hi hi” on demand. She even performs few “dancing dancing” acts for the guests. And when people leave, she’s more than happy to follow them and even [...]

Meeting the Family

Last time we were in Taiwan, Mckayla was barely 3 months old. And she didn’t “recognize” anyone at all and no stranger anxiety problem to deal with at the time. She’s a completely different child from her last visit. She’s usually a bit shy with strangers but eventually warms up after a little time. She [...]

Flying Across the Pacific Ocean

Since our flight to Taiwan was at 1:30 in the morning, we put Mckayla down for a nap before we left for the airport. On the drive to the airport, she fell asleep again and woke up right after we checked in at the counter.  Airport security was not too bad since it was so late [...]

Unplanned Trip

We’re going to Taiwan for a few days to visit my sick Grandpa. He’s not doing too great and hoping our visit will uplift his spirit a bit. Now, it’s time to pack up again for our long flight across the Pacific Ocean.

Stairs

Didn’t realize Mckayla’s never had any expereince with stairs. When we were at Deborah/Dan’s house, Mckayla got to try climbing up and down the stairs for the first time since it’s carpeted. She didn’t have too much problem climbing up but had no clue how to get down. She kind of got down the stairs [...]
